Cape Coral Man Arrested After Convenience Store Robbery and SWAT Raid

Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that Cape Coral Police have arrested 47-year-old James Eric Johnson Jr. following a robbery at a convenience store on Cape Coral Parkway West.

At approximately 2:10 AM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, officers responded to a 911 call from a store in the 800 block of Cape Coral Pkwy W. According to police, Johnson entered the business, concealed several Beatbox alcoholic beverages in a backpack, and attempted to leave without paying.

When a store clerk confronted him outside, Johnson made violent threats toward the employee before fleeing on foot. The clerk immediately contacted law enforcement.

Detectives from the Cape Coral Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit reviewed security camera footage and cross-referenced department records, positively identifying Johnson as the suspect. Investigators subsequently executed a residential search warrant at Johnson's home, with the CCPD SWAT Team providing assistance.

During the search, Johnson attempted to escape through a rear window. He was apprehended with the help of CCPD K9 Venom. Officers recovered evidence at the residence linking Johnson to the crime, including the clothing he had worn during the incident and empty Beatbox beverage containers.

Johnson was transported to Lee County Jail following his arrest.
