Harold Wayne Nickels was executed by lethal injection in the state of Tennessee, according to BTA, citing the Associated Press. According to 24chasa.bg, the 64-year-old man was convicted of the rape and murder of Karen Pulee — a 20-year-old student at the state college in Chattanooga — committed in 1988.

Nickels himself admitted that he had killed Pulee, as well as that he had raped several other women in the Chattanooga area. During the trial he expressed remorse, but at the same time stated that he would have continued with his violent behaviour if he had not been arrested.

The death sentence was pronounced in 1990.
