A jury has convicted Duane "Keefe D" Davis of murder in connection with the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed rapper Tupac Shakur, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports, citing RTE.ie.

Davis, a former gang leader, was found guilty following a trial in Las Vegas. Shakur was shot multiple times while travelling in a car on the Las Vegas Strip on 7 September 1996 and died six days later in hospital. He was 25 years old.

Davis had long been considered a key suspect in the case. Prosecutors argued he orchestrated the attack from the back seat of the vehicle from which the shots were fired.

The conviction closes a chapter in one of the most high-profile unsolved murder cases in music history, nearly three decades after the killing. Sentencing is expected to follow at a later date.
