One person was fatally shot near the Spectrum Center in uptown Charlotte on Sunday afternoon, wbtv.com reports.

Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to East Trade Street shortly after 12 p.m. on Sunday, 13 September. They found a victim with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Medics transported the victim to a local hospital, where the person later died from their injuries. Medic initially reported treating the victim on East 5th Street.

Investigators said a person of interest was taken into custody and a firearm was recovered at the scene. Authorities described the shooting as an isolated incident and said no ongoing threat to the public remained.
