Lexington Man Accused of Using FedEx Truck as Weapon Before Fatal Stabbing
A 35-year-old Lexington man is accused of ramming a FedEx delivery truck into his ex-girlfriend's home and then stabbing her to death, Law & Crime reports. The Lexington Police Department announced charges against Dario M. Williams, including murder related to domestic violence and first-degree burglary, as well as fourth-degree domestic violence and second-degree criminal mischief tied to an unrelated warrant.
The Fayette County Coroner identified the victim as Candice Lynn Mackie, 34, according to regional CBS affiliate WKYT.
On Thursday at approximately 10 a.m., police received a report of a commercial vehicle striking a residence on the 3300 block of Valhalla Drive. Officers arrived to find Mackie suffering from apparent stab wounds and the truck partially inside the home. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead later that day.
An arrest citation states Williams deliberately drove the FedEx truck through the garage to confront Mackie. He then allegedly chased her into the street and stabbed her multiple times, local NBC affiliate WLEX reported. Williams was taken into custody near the crime scene and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.
Mackie's uncle, Emmit Murphy, told WKYT that she had been living with him for roughly four months and that Williams was her ex-boyfriend. Police had previously been called to the home after Williams damaged a mailbox there.
"I've always tried to help her, I've tried to help him," Murphy said. "Most of the time, when he gets mad at her, he takes it out on the house."
Murphy said his niece suffered puncture wounds to the heart, lungs, and liver, and that he believes Williams came to the house intending to kill her.
A FedEx spokesperson told WKYT that Williams no longer provides services on behalf of the company.
