Christopher Reed, a fired 10-year Raleigh police veteran, faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a bar manager and an EMT in Wake Forest.

Fired Raleigh Detective Skips Hearing After Wake Forest Assault Charges
Christopher Reed, a former Raleigh Police Department detective terminated Tuesday following his arrest, did not appear in court Wednesday for his initial hearing on multiple assault charges. His attorney, Aaron Goforth, attended in his place and offered no comment on the case. "We don't have any comments at this time," Goforth said.
Reed served ten years with the Raleigh Police Department before being fired. According to abc11.com, Wake Forest police allege he assaulted three people in separate incidents early Tuesday morning, including a manager at a Carolina Ale House located off U.S. 1 and a Wake County EMT.
Wake Forest police say the trouble started at the Carolina Ale House, where Reed was asked to leave after becoming too intoxicated. He allegedly assaulted the manager before leaving the premises. Officers were subsequently called to the scene, and Reed allegedly assaulted a Wake County EMT who had responded to treat him, while also making threats toward Wake Forest police officers.
When officers gave Reed commands, he ignored them and walked aggressively in their direction, shouting, "Go ahead and shoot, baby," police said. Officers deployed a Taser, and Reed fell to the ground. EMTs treated him on scene before transporting him to a hospital.
Reed posted bond Tuesday. At Wednesday's hearing, a judge ordered him to stay at least 300 yards from the Carolina Ale House. When asked about Reed's condition, Goforth said he is "doing just fine."
ABC11 has submitted an open records request for details regarding Reed's tenure with the Raleigh Police Department and is awaiting a response. Reed is due back in court on 28 October.
