Four arrested in Dyer County drug sweep across Dyersburg area

Four people were arrested on drug charges after an overnight operation by the Dyer County Sheriff's Office on 5–6 September. Multiple traffic stops and establishment walkthroughs led to the arrests.

Four individuals were arrested on drug-related charges following an overnight law enforcement operation in Dyersburg and surrounding areas, wbbjtv.com reports. The Dyer County Sheriff's Office launched the sweep during the evening hours of 5 September, continuing through the morning of 6 September.

Deputies carried out multiple traffic stops and compliance walkthroughs at several establishments throughout the operation.

Sheriff Montgomery and Chief Deputy Cantu conducted a traffic stop that produced one arrest for simple possession of narcotics. Captain Caldwell and Investigator DeFoe made two further arrests — one for felony amounts of narcotics and one for tampering with evidence.

A fourth arrest came after Sgt. Cole initiated a traffic stop, assisted by Deputy Beloate and his K9 unit Luna. That stop resulted in charges of simple possession of Schedule II narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"We want to thank the citizens we made contact with during these traffic stops and walkthroughs for their cooperation," Sheriff Montgomery said. "That cooperation allows us to do our jobs and allows everyone to go home to their families safely. A special thank you once again to the West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the Dyersburg Police Department for working alongside us."

The West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the Dyersburg Police Department assisted in the operation. All four defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Prosecution will be handled by District Attorney General Danny Goodman.
