Four adults were stabbed to death on Saturday night, 12 September, and a young boy was critically wounded. Victims were found across two separate homes. The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office initially named Solet a "person of interest" that evening; after he was arrested near the neighbourhood early Sunday, the sheriff's office confirmed he was the suspect in the quadruple killing. His precise link to the victims has not been detailed by the sheriff's office.
In December 2019, Houma Police arrested Solet after a 59-year-old woman said he struck her in the head with a wine bottle, stabbed her multiple times and left her locked inside a motel room. According to a Houma Police news release recovered by Fox News, the attack occurred shortly after midnight on Christmas Eve 2019, leaving the woman bleeding on the floor of the Red Carpet Inn. Investigators determined Solet had been invited into the room, where a violent argument left the woman critically injured. Solet was arrested approximately 18 hours later and eventually stood trial. In November 2023, a jury deliberated roughly two hours before returning a not-guilty verdict on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, the Houma Courier reported.
Eleven months before that motel attack, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office said it had obtained an arrest warrant for Solet in connection with the killing of 41-year-old Kemple Paul Scott Lovell, whose body was found on 9 January 2019. Records indicate Solet was booked with second-degree murder, though it remains unclear whether a Terrebonne Parish grand jury ever returned a formal indictment on that charge.
The Terrebonne Parish District Attorney's office did not respond to after-hours questions on Sunday regarding the disposition of either previous case.
