Gaithersburg murder: co-defendant Demari Brown sentenced to 45 years
Demari Brown, 21, was sentenced to 45 years in prison for the April 2025 shooting death of Henry Gilbert in Gaithersburg, MD.

45-year sentence handed down in Gaithersburg execution-style killing
A Montgomery County circuit court judge sentenced Demari Brown, 21, of Montgomery Village, to life in prison — suspending all but 45 years — plus five years of supervised probation upon release, according to montgomerycountymd.gov. Judge Debra Dwyer handed down the sentence following Brown's guilty plea to one count of first-degree murder.
The victim, Henry Krishawn Gilbert, 20, also of Montgomery Village, was found dead on April 26, 2025, inside a green Honda Civic on Brookridge Court in Gaithersburg. The vehicle had struck a curb with the engine still running. Gilbert had been shot in the head while seated in his car.
Investigators from the Montgomery County Police Homicide Unit determined that co-defendant Jorden Hungerford, 20, posed as a female acquaintance online, sending Gilbert social media messages to lure him to the location under the pretence of buying seventy dollars' worth of marijuana. Brown and Hungerford then arrived at Brookridge Court, where they robbed and shot Gilbert.
Brown entered his guilty plea on May 19, 2026. Hungerford was convicted by a jury one day earlier, on May 18, on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He faces a potential sentence of life in prison plus an additional 60 years; his sentencing hearing is scheduled for Friday, 6 November 2026.
Assistant State's Attorneys Teresa Casafranca and Lauren Turner are prosecuting the case.
