Homeless man arrested for sexually motivated break-in at Alphabet City residence

A homeless man with more than 20 prior arrests was charged with sexually motivated burglary after attempting to break into a woman's home in Manhattan early Saturday morning, NY Post Metro reports.

Ulysses Lucero, 27, was taken into custody around 4 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a burglary in progress near Avenue B and East 7th Street in Alphabet City. The residence belongs to a 56-year-old woman, according to police.

Lucero was charged with sexually motivated burglary — a charge applied when a burglary is committed for the purpose of sexual gratification, police said.

Whether Lucero had any direct contact with the woman during the incident remained unclear as of Saturday, police said.

His record includes prior arrests for burglary, grand larceny, forcible touching, assault, and petty larceny, according to police sources. His arraignment was pending as of Saturday evening.
