Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that a 32-year-old mental health therapist intern has been arrested after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a patient at an addiction treatment centre in Homestead, Florida.
Michelle Luchau-Rebora was taken into custody on Tuesday on two charges: psychotherapist engaging in sex with a client and sexual misconduct by a psychotherapist, according to arrest reports.
The alleged victim, a 42-year-old man, was a patient at New Hope C.O.R.P.S., an addiction and behavioural health treatment facility located on Krome Avenue. Luchau-Rebora was serving as an intern at the facility in the capacity of a mental health therapist, with the man listed as her client.
The victim told investigators that the sexual relationship ran from June 2025 to September 2025, while he remained under her care. He said the encounters took place during therapy sessions, or that Luchau-Rebora arranged alibis that allowed him authorisation to leave the restricted facility to meet with her elsewhere.
The two had sex at her home in Pinecrest, at a local hospital, and at Luchau-Rebora's mother's house on separate occasions, the arrest reports stated.
According to the reports, Luchau-Rebora instructed the victim to keep the relationship secret. After she ended it, he chose to disclose what he described as a "forbidden affair" to her employers, which led to her dismissal.
Luchau-Rebora subsequently surrendered to authorities and was booked into jail. On Wednesday she appeared before a judge, who set her bond at $5,000 and ordered her to have no contact with the alleged victim.
NBC 6 South Florida said it had contacted New Hope C.O.R.P.S. for comment but had not received a response at the time of publication.
