Arrest made in Jackson homicide of Tasia Fortune
Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney announced Friday that authorities have arrested a man in connection with the death of Tasia Fortune, wdam.com reports.
JPD secured two search warrants and one arrest warrant for Jacques Ratliff. Officers executed both search warrants, but Ratliff was not present at the location when they arrived. He was subsequently found on Capitol Street and taken into custody.
On Thursday night, medical examiners officially ruled Fortune's death a homicide. Fortune, 29, had been found hanging from a tree behind a home off Road of Remembrance in Jackson on 3 August.
Brackney said JPD investigators interviewed nearly 15 individuals in the course of the investigation. The family of Fortune has been notified of the arrest.
Local leaders and activists across the country have previously called for answers regarding the circumstances of her death. Brackney indicated that further arrests are expected.
