A juvenile girl has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding following an alleged stabbing of a family member in Rockingham County, Virginia, on Saturday, whsv.com reports, citing an email from Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson.

Deputies responded to the 4500 block of Magnolia Ridge Drive in the Massanetta Springs area, where a 43-year-old woman had been stabbed during a domestic incident at her residence. Rescue squads from both Rockingham County and Harrisonburg attended the scene.

The victim was transported to UVA Hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries. Hutcheson said the latest information indicates the woman remains hospitalised but is in stable condition.

The juvenile suspect, identified as a family member of the victim, was taken into custody and charged with malicious wounding. She is being held without bond at Shenandoah Valley Detention Center, Hutcheson said.
