Kingston Residents Face Assault Charges After Hit-and-Run Leaves Victim in Coma

According to midhudsonnews.com, a Kingston man and woman have been indicted on multiple charges following a serious pedestrian-vehicle collision in the City of Kingston on August 1.

The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Liberty Street. The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie before being transferred to a long-term intensive care unit, where he remains in a coma.

An Ulster County grand jury indicted Justin Greico, 35, on charges of assault, vehicular assault, driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene without reporting, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving and tampering with physical evidence.

An investigation by Kingston Police and the sheriff's office found that Greico, following a night of drinking, drove the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. The vehicle was owned by Katie Potter, 39, his partner, with whom he shares a residence on Petit Avenue.

Potter was indicted separately on charges of tampering with physical evidence, falsifying business records and insurance fraud. Investigators say both individuals attempted to conceal evidence of the collision, but were undone by a review of several hours of municipal and business surveillance footage.
