LAPD arrest suspect after two-hour car chase across Los Angeles County

A driver wanted for allegedly assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon was taken into custody after a two-hour pursuit through LA County on Wednesday night.

A driver wanted for allegedly assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon was taken into custody late Wednesday night following a two-hour chase across Los Angeles County, Google News IE — Crime (en) reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the suspect was sought in connection with an assault on an officer that occurred several days earlier in North Hollywood. The type of weapon involved was not disclosed.

The pursuit began at around 9 p.m. near Studio City and wound through multiple neighbourhoods, including Boyle Heights, Alhambra and Pasadena. Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 captured the suspect's white Lexus sedan moving slowly on the southbound 5 Freeway with what appeared to be a damaged front-right tyre. At least nine LAPD patrol units followed the vehicle, with two LAPD airships overhead.

By 9:30 p.m., the chase had moved off the freeway and onto surface streets, continuing at low speed.

Just before 11 p.m., the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a residential area. Officers arrested the suspect near an apartment complex at the junction of Oxnard Street and Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood.
