Following the declaration of a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case, lead defence attorney Kevin Reddington addressed reporters outside the courthouse, directing sharp criticism at a single juror he holds responsible for blocking an acquittal, pbs.org reports.

"They know they were robbed by one man, for whatever his agenda was, who stole seven weeks of the life of these other jurors that were so attentive, so beautiful, so wonderful," Reddington told reporters. "You could see how defeated they were sitting there. I got a funny feeling they would have gone on for another week if they had to. So I hope that guy can sleep well at night."

Reddington was unequivocal about what the verdict should have been. "She deserved an acquittal," he said.

Despite tense exchanges during the trial, Reddington expressed admiration for the presiding judge, referring to him informally as "Sully." "He's a great guy. He was a wonderful defence lawyer before he became a judge. Everybody loves him, he's a fair guy," Reddington said.

The attorney also spoke warmly about his client, describing Clancy as "like a daughter to me." When a reporter raised comments from the prosecution that attention should remain on the victims, Reddington acknowledged the weight of the case. "My client is well aware of the fact that her three kids, who she loved dearly, are the victims in this case," he said.

Prosecutors also addressed reporters separately following the mistrial declaration.
