Man Attacks Subway Rider With Gardening Tool on NYC A/C Train Near Fulton Street

A grinning suspect struck a 49-year-old man with a large gardening tool aboard a Manhattan subway train during rush hour. The NYPD is seeking the public's help to identify him.

Gardening Tool Attack on Lower Manhattan Subway During Rush Hour

A man wielding a gardening tool attacked a fellow passenger on a northbound A/C train near Fulton Street and Nassau Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 9, according to the NYPD.

NY Post Metro reports that the unidentified suspect struck a 49-year-old man in the hand and legs with the large wooden-handled tool. The victim sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene, police said.

Surveillance images released by the department show the attacker smiling while holding the tool aboard the train before fleeing the scene.

Police describe the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, around 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, with an athletic build, short black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen in a black tank top, black pants, a blue baseball cap, and a silver necklace.
