A man was left with life-threatening injuries after a shooting at The Park on Northridge Apartments on Brookbank Lane, near Litchford Road, in north Raleigh on Friday afternoon, abc11.com reports.
Raleigh police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the complex shortly before 5 p.m. One man was found suffering from critical gunshot wounds.
An eyewitness told ABC11 they had observed an altercation between a man and several women immediately before the gunfire broke out. "So I heard 13 rounds of shots go off, um, one unloading, then a pause followed by several more shots," a resident said. "And then after that, there was screaming, and as I looked outside, a mother was running after her child to make sure that he was OK."
ABC11 crews at the scene observed a handgun lying on the ground, with shell casings also visible in the parking lot.
A suspect was treated at the scene for minor injuries and subsequently taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation by Raleigh police.
