Memphis woman admits to burning and beating 3-year-old boy to death

A 29-year-old Memphis woman has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect following the death of a 3-year-old boy, ksnblocal4.com reports.

Dominica Mosby was identified as the girlfriend of the child's father. Last Saturday, the father called 911 after finding the boy unresponsive at a residence in the area. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mosby initially told police she had put the boy to bed after he fell ill. She later confessed to homicide investigators that she had inflicted severe abuse on him, including placing a lit cigarette in his ear and burning his genitals after he urinated on the floor.

She also admitted to repeatedly beating the child — stomping and striking him on his torso and chest — when he did not obey her.

The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as homicide. An autopsy revealed lacerations to the liver, internal bleeding in the stomach, bruising on the torso, and burns to the ear and genitals.

The child's aunt told investigators she had previously noticed injuries on the boy.

Mosby is currently held without bond as she awaits her next court appearance.
