Toms River man charged with murder after convenience store shooting

A 51-year-old Toms River man is being sought by authorities for the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old outside a Wawa convenience store, fox5ny.com reports, citing the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers were called to the Wawa at Route 37 and Garfield Avenue at approximately 7:20 a.m. on 18 September, where they found Bruce Gress of Toms River with a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders transported Gress to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators identified Douglas Cobb of Toms River as the shooter. The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office charged Cobb with murder, weapon possession, and being a certain person not permitted to possess a weapon.

Cobb has not been taken into custody and is classified as a fugitive from justice. Authorities said he also goes by the name Douglas Green and the nickname "Bootknock." He was last seen driving a black 2016 Acura MDX bearing New Jersey registration T93YJL.
