New Jersey Deputy Attorney General charged with AI-generated child sexual abuse material in Bucks County
A Lower Makefield Township man who serves as a Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Attorney General's Office was arrested and arraigned on felony charges linked to AI-generated child sexual abuse material, buckscounty.gov reported.
Brian Richard Fitzgerald, 51, of Edgewood Road, Lower Makefield Township, faces multiple felony counts following a joint investigation by Bucks County Detectives and the Lower Makefield Township Police Department. Prosecutors allege Fitzgerald used artificial intelligence software to generate child sexual abuse material and distributed the content across social media platforms. Investigators also found he had obtained child sexual abuse material depicting real children through a separate social media platform and shared that material as well.
District Attorney Joe Khan addressed the suspect's professional standing directly. "No one is above the law, least of all someone entrusted with upholding it," Khan said. "Our office will pursue these cases aggressively and hold offenders fully accountable, regardless of their profession or title."
Investigation triggered by a CyberTip
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) forwarded a CyberTip on July 10, 2026, reporting that a Discord user had shared an illicit image file. Digital forensics and subscriber records subsequently linked the account and its associated internet protocol addresses to Fitzgerald's residence.
A search warrant was executed at Fitzgerald's home on October 15, 2026. Law enforcement recovered prompts and scripts used to produce the AI-generated material. Chat logs retrieved from Discord showed that Fitzgerald, operating under the username thegentlemanpervert_2160_07833, admitted to creating multiple illicit images using artificial intelligence and sharing them with other users on the platform.
Three felony charges, $2 million bail
Fitzgerald was taken into custody at his home and charged with possession of child sexual abuse material, dissemination of photos or film of child sexual abuse material, and criminal use of a communication facility — all felony offences.
Magisterial District Judge Corryn L. Kronnagel arraigned Fitzgerald and set bail at $2 million, 10 percent, remanding him to Bucks County Correctional Facility. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
The case was investigated by Bucks County Detective Eric Landamia and Lower Makefield Detective Peter Lange.
Criminal charges are allegations subject to proof in court. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
