Ohio Woman Sentenced for Dragging Kroger Parking Lot Victim 300 Feet to His Death

An Ohio woman has been sentenced to up to five and a half years in prison for killing a man she dragged more than 300 feet beneath her car following a minor collision in a grocery store parking lot, Law & Crime reports.

Danielle Henry, 35, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide on Aug. 11, less than a year after her arrest in connection with the death of Ibrahim Diakite. The incident took place on Oct. 22, 2025, in the parking lot of a Kroger store in Westerville, Ohio, where the two were involved in a minor car accident.

After Henry left the lot, Diakite followed her in his vehicle until both stopped at a red light at a nearby intersection. Diakite got out of his car, approached Henry's vehicle, and positioned himself in front of it to prevent her from driving away. Police said he then climbed onto the hood of her car. Henry abruptly accelerated, throwing Diakite off.

Diakite landed in the road. Henry drove over him and continued moving, dragging him more than 300 feet before his body came free from underneath the vehicle. He was transported to a hospital, where he died.

Westerville Police Chief Holly Murchland, speaking to local CBS affiliate WBNS, confirmed that Henry had multiple outstanding arrest warrants at the time and was driving a stolen vehicle when she struck Diakite. "She was obviously willing to do whatever she could to keep from being caught by the police and showed herself to be a danger to the community," Murchland told the station.

Henry had originally faced a range of charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, hit-and-run on private property, failure to comply with a police order or signal, and seven additional misdemeanor counts.

On Aug. 27, a judge sentenced Henry to a maximum of five and a half years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of four years. The court also permanently revoked her driver's license.
