Pasadena man rams two patrol cars, officer injured in police shooting

A suspect rammed two police cruisers in Pasadena, triggering gunfire. Three people were hospitalised; no one was struck by bullets.

Pasadena police opened fire on Thursday night after a suspect reversed his car into two patrol units in a parking lot on the 200 block of Oakland Avenue, abc7.com reports.

Officers had been attempting to stop the vehicle when the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Keith Trevon Anderson of Pasadena, struck the cruisers. No one was hit by gunfire, but three people sustained injuries and were taken to hospital — among them an officer, Anderson himself, and a passenger travelling in his vehicle. All three were treated for minor injuries.

Anderson refused to leave the vehicle after the shooting. "After continued efforts to gain his compliance, a Pasadena Police K-9 was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody," the Pasadena Police Department said in a Friday news release.

Footage from AIR7 showed Anderson's Audi SUV with multiple bullet holes and damage consistent with a collision involving a pickup truck. Police found a loaded handgun inside the Audi.

Anderson was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon upon a peace officer. The passenger was arrested on an unrelated outstanding warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.
