Pennsylvania Man Confesses to Fatal Hour-Long Attack on Mother
A 29-year-old Pennsylvania man is being held without bail after confessing to beating his mother to death on the front porch of her home, Law & Crime reports.
Jakob Korber was charged with criminal homicide following the death of his mother, Christin Hamilton, whose body was discovered on the porch of her Sewickley Township home on Sunday morning. The Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office said surveillance video captured the entire alleged assault, which began as a verbal altercation and ended with Hamilton's death.
Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani told Pittsburgh CBS affiliate KDKA that Hamilton had been wearing a towel and drinking her morning coffee while letting the dog outside just minutes before her son allegedly turned on her. Hamilton's daughter found her mother naked and bleeding on the front porch at approximately 9 a.m.
"She went through hell for over an hour, and it was at the hands of her son," Limani told KDKA.
During the assault, Korber allegedly used his hands, feet, and multiple objects found on the porch to batter his mother as she pleaded for her life. Limani said her cries for help went unheard and that Korber "at no point in time showed any mercy." Hamilton was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cameras on the property captured Korber walking around after the alleged attack, according to local outlet TribLive.com. Court documents obtained by TribLive.com indicate investigators believe Korber changed his clothes following the assault and later fell asleep in a nearby field while authorities searched for him.
He surrendered to police Sunday evening and was taken into custody. In an affidavit, police stated that Korber "eventually confessed that if his mother, Hamilton, was dead, it was him that caused it."
Local ABC affiliate WTAE reported that Hamilton's daughter told police Korber had made threats against both her and her mother in the days leading up to the attack.
Korber is currently held at Westmoreland County Prison without bail. His next court date is scheduled for September 14.
