Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that Portland Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the stabbing death of a 47-year-old man whose body was discovered on 5 August 2026.

Officers from East Precinct responded late that Wednesday night — at 11:44 p.m. — to a welfare check request at an apartment in the 12000 block of East Burnside Street, where they found Johnny Alexander deceased. The Multnomah County Medical Examiner took custody of the body to conduct a death investigation.

Two days later, on 7 August, the Portland Police Homicide Unit was alerted to suspicious injuries on the body that had not been immediately apparent. Detectives launched a formal homicide investigation, which established that Alexander had most likely died on 1 August — four days before his body was found.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner subsequently determined the cause of death to be homicide by stab wounds. Alexander's family has been informed.

Further investigation led detectives to identify Kenneth A. Lacey, 37, as the suspect. Working with the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, detectives secured a signed arrest warrant for Lacey.

On 17 August, East Precinct Officers located and arrested Lacey at the intersection of Northeast 122nd Avenue and Northeast Oregon Street. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
