Kingston police responded just before 5 p.m. on September 11, 2026, following reports that a driver in Halifax had aimed a gun at a fellow motorist. Officers located a vehicle matching the description on Main Street near Route 3, close to the Cancun Restaurant, and initiated a high-risk "felony" stop.

Given the nature of the call, officers drew their weapons and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The operator was argumentative and did not immediately comply with commands. Police eventually detained the driver without injury to any party.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a realistic-looking pellet gun. The driver told officers he was "just showing it to someone," according to the Kingston Police Department.

The suspect was transferred to Halifax police, who are leading the underlying investigation. Authorities have not publicly identified the driver or announced any charges.

No injuries were reported in connection with the original confrontation in Halifax, and police have released no further details about the other motorist involved.
