Williamson County authorities have charged a 26-year-old Round Rock man with first-degree murder following a fatal attack in a residential subdivision on Monday, fox7austin.com reports.

Benedict Ogbodiegwu, of Round Rock, was identified and taken into custody late Monday night. He remains in the Williamson County Jail as of Tuesday morning.

Deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) responded at around 11 a.m. on 7 September to the 2400 block of Chandler Creek Boulevard, near Double File Trail Elementary School, after receiving a report of an injured person. Emergency medical services pronounced the individual dead on arrival, and WCSO classified the incident as a homicide.

Prior to the arrest, the sheriff's office released a photo of the suspect to the public. Investigators say preliminary evidence suggests the attack was random and that the victim and suspect were not known to each other.

The identity of the victim and the cause of death have not yet been disclosed by WCSO. The investigation remains ongoing.
