Ellenville man held without bail after shooting victim multiple times in legs
New York State Police arrested Russell J. Long, 46, of Ellenville on September 9 in connection with a shooting that left a 46-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs, recordonline.com reports.
Troopers responded to Spring Street in the Village of Ellenville at approximately 3:25 p.m. on September 8. Upon arrival, they found the victim — a man from Jamaica, New York — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. He was transported to a local hospital and treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Long was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies. He was arraigned in Ulster County Court Central Arraignment Part and remanded without bail to Ulster County jail, pending further court proceedings.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
State police said their investigation is ongoing. The Ellenville Police Department, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, and the Ulster County District Attorney's Office provided assistance at the scene.
