San Jose resident Andre Duckett, 39, was arrested on Thursday in Oakland after detectives used licence plate readers to track a vehicle linked to the shooting, police said. He was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of murder.

The victim, a man whose identity has not been publicly released, was initially hospitalised with life-threatening injuries before the incident was classified as a homicide — the 18th recorded in San Jose this year.
