Norfolk Police charged a second teen with conspiracy to commit murder in a shooting near Norview High School that left one 16-year-old dead.
Second suspect charged over fatal Sewells Point Road shooting
Norfolk Police have arrested a second juvenile in connection with the fatal shooting that took place on 7 October near Norview High School, according to norfolk.gov. The newly arrested suspect, a 16-year-old male, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
A 17-year-old male was already facing charges in relation to the same incident. Both juveniles are currently held at the Norfolk Detention Center.
At approximately 2:25 p.m. on 7 October, officers were called to the 6800 block of Sewells Point Road following reports of a gunshot victim. On arrival, they found two males — a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old — with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to hospital.
The 16-year-old, who sustained life-threatening injuries, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 17-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. A 14-year-old also suffered a graze wound during the incident but did not require medical treatment.
Preliminary findings indicate the shooting broke out following a dispute among juveniles in the high school parking lot during school dismissal.
