Four New Jersey teenagers allegedly stole a $220,000 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and led police on a chase spanning several hours before crashing head-on into a Hyundai sedan near Mays Landing early Saturday morning, killing both people inside, NY Post Metro reports.

The stolen 2024 G-Wagon was first flagged around 3:40 a.m. in Longport, when the vehicle sped past a local officer who attempted a traffic stop. Cops in Hamilton Township reacquired the SUV around 7:45 a.m. and resumed pursuit, but lost sight of it minutes before it slammed into the sedan near the intersection of Route 50 and Third Street — sending the smaller car careening into a nearby gas station, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

The two occupants of the Hyundai, Robert Barr, Jr., 54, and Alice Stilwell, 67, both of Egg Harbor Township, were killed in the collision. A GoFundMe campaign set up to cover funeral costs described Stilwell as a beloved mother and grandmother, and Barr as her longtime partner.

The four teens escaped the wreck largely unscathed and attempted to flee the scene on foot. They were quickly taken into custody, authorities said.

Nayshaun Brown, 18, was the only suspect identified by name; the three others were not named because they are minors. All four face charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, joyriding, and eluding police, according to court records. It has not been determined which of the four was driving at the time of the crash.

No information regarding legal representation for Brown or the three minors was immediately available.
