TBI Most Wanted suspect Jesse Wayne Phillips arrested in Kentucky for Pickett County murder

Jesse Wayne Phillips, 39, was captured in Monticello, Kentucky after a months-long manhunt over a fatal shooting in Pall Mall, Tennessee.

Kentucky State Police troopers arrested Jesse Wayne Phillips, 39, in Monticello, Kentucky on Thursday, 17 September, ending a months-long manhunt, wvlt.tv reports. Phillips had been listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's "Most Wanted" roster in connection with a second-degree murder charge out of Pickett County.

The homicide dates to 27 May, when Pickett County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call in the 1000 block of Parker Road in Pall Mall, Tennessee. They found Brad Yates, 40, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

TBI special agents opened an investigation at the request of 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway. Agents identified Phillips, described as an acquaintance of the victim, as the suspected shooter and secured an arrest warrant for second-degree murder on the same day as the killing. Phillips was added to the TBI's Most Wanted list the following day.

Phillips is currently held at the Pulaski County Detention Center in Kentucky on the original charges while he awaits extradition to Tennessee to face prosecution.
