Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that an 18-year-old from Woodridge, Illinois, has been killed and three other teenagers wounded in a shooting that took place during a Saturday evening gathering in Crest Hill.

Investigators have identified the deceased as Kamarion Coleman, whose death is being treated as a homicide. Crest Hill police said shots were fired at around 11 p.m. in the 900-block of Willow Court, near Crest Hill Memorial Park.

A second 18-year-old, from Joliet, was airlifted to a Chicago hospital in critical condition. Two further victims — aged 15 and 16 — are expected to recover from their injuries.

Authorities have not disclosed what triggered the shooting but confirmed it was connected to a gathering at the park. Police also stated that the incident was not random.

Emani Love, a resident who lives across the street from the park, said the event appeared to be a peaceful barbecue before the violence broke out.

"I heard the gunshots, but before prior to that, I was walking my dog," Love said. "It was a lot of music and, you know, I think a barbeque."

Love, who has lived in the area for several years, described the park as a well-used local spot for families, neighbours and dog walkers.

"It's so sad, you know, for a young life to be taken that soon, especially in this neighbourhood," she said. She also offered her condolences to those affected: "I'm really sorry to everybody that was involved. It's horrible news."
