Trans partner testifies in Charlie Kirk murder trial
Lance Tougues, the trans partner of Tyler Robinson, appeared via video call at the trial of the 23-year-old who has confessed to murdering Charlie Kirk in the United States. Wearing a costume and chewing gum at one point after the judge's observation, Tougues testified about what Robinson told him regarding the crime.
According to the New York Post, Tougues is not charged with any offense and received limited immunity from the prosecution in order to testify. Speaking in court, he stated that Robinson acted alone and confessed the crime to him when he returned to their shared apartment.
Tougues also supported that the perpetrator was remorseful, stating he "wished he hadn't done it... He was about to turn himself in."
During the trial, messages exchanged between Robinson and friends were presented, in which he admitted to the murder of Charlie Kirk. Erica Kirk, the victim's mother, burst into tears when the recording was played in which Robinson called his trans partner.
It is reminded that the 23-year-old Tyler Robinson still faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted. The case is now in the preliminary hearing phase.
