Baton Rouge Police Department detectives arrested two men after executing a search warrant at a business in the 9500 block of South Choctaw Drive on 9 September, wafb.com reports. The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation.

Detectives seized marijuana, a handgun, and an undisclosed amount of US currency during the search.

Damond Williams, 32, was booked on a charge of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance. Louis Smith, 47, faces additional charges: possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

BRPD said Smith is currently serving supervised probation linked to a prior conviction for possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I substance. His arrest history dates to 1996 and includes prior drug and weapons allegations. Williams' arrest history similarly includes allegations involving weapons, drugs, and violent offences, according to police.

The investigation remains ongoing.
