Boone County Drug Bust: 107 Grams of Meth and Fentanyl Seized
Boone County deputies arrested two Columbia residents on drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop and subsequent home search turned up large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl, krcgtv.com reports.
Deputies pulled over a 2014 Ford Focus at 1:28 p.m. on 7 October at Brown School and Creasy Springs Road, citing a stop sign violation. The driver, Ralawndo K. Akers, and passenger Paige E. Ainsworth were both taken into custody as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
Court documents state that Ainsworth attempted to discard 1.7 grams of fentanyl inside the back of the patrol vehicle during the stop.
Armed with a search warrant for the pair's residence, deputies recovered 107 grams of methamphetamine, seven grams of fentanyl, packaging material, a digital scale, and $10,000 in cash.
Both Akers and Ainsworth were booked into Boone County Jail and are being held without bond.
Akers faces two counts of First-Degree Trafficking Drugs or Attempt. Ainsworth faces the same two trafficking counts, along with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution.
