Two people were killed in a shooting in Seattle's Beacon Hill neighbourhood in the early hours of Saturday morning, the Seattle Police Department has confirmed. Fox13seattle.com reports that officers were dispatched to the scene at around 2:42 a.m. following reports of a crash at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Graham Street, on the boundary of Beacon Hill and Columbia City.

Arriving officers found a vehicle that had struck a tree. Inside were a man and a woman, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene. The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was subsequently declared dead by hospital staff.

Police have not identified who fired the shots. No suspect has been placed in custody, and the SPD homicide unit is actively investigating the incident.
