Two Teen Girls on E-Scooters Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Lincoln, CA

A gray truck struck two teenage girls riding electric scooters on a sidewalk in Lincoln, California, then fled. Police are investigating and expect to charge the driver with hit-and-run.

Two teenage girls riding electric scooters on a sidewalk in Lincoln, California were struck by a gray truck whose driver fled the scene, NY Post Metro reports. The collision occurred on Aug. 26 near the entrance to Joiner Park in Placer County.

Officers from the Lincoln Police Department responded to the scene and found both girls with serious injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Diliara Borisova, the mother of 15-year-old victim Kseniia Borisova, said the girls were on the sidewalk — not the road — when the truck turned without warning. Kseniia sustained fractures to her leg and skull, as well as a liver laceration, her mother said.

"They were driving on the sidewalk and passing by the entrance of the park and the truck was driving on the road and he just didn't make a signal that he was turning, he just turned all the sudden," Borisova told KCRA through a translator. "The kids, it just was not possible to stop."

The injuries and condition of the second victim have not been disclosed. The driver's identity remains unknown.

Borisova said she fears the driver could strike again and urged police to bring him to justice. "That driver can do that again — to someone else, not only her daughter, because he just ran away," she told the station.

The Lincoln Police Department's traffic unit is leading the investigation. The driver is expected to face hit-and-run charges. Anyone with information about the incident or the driver of the truck can contact Lincoln Police at 916-645-4040.
