Walmart Co-Worker Points Gun at Woman During Lunch Break, Then Stalks Her Through Store

A 22-year-old Walmart employee in Fayetteville, West Virginia, has been charged with battery and brandishing a deadly weapon after a co-worker told police he pointed a handgun at her during a lunch break and choked her on the same day, Law & Crime reports.

Byron Shelton was taken into custody on Friday following incidents that the woman said occurred on Aug. 23. According to a criminal complaint obtained by West Virginia outlet Lootpress.com, the woman told police she was sitting in a car with Shelton on their lunch break when he began expressing distress over problems with his girlfriend.

Shelton told her he was considering taking his own life, then pulled out a handgun and asked whether she had ever had a gun pointed at her, according to the complaint. Police said he removed the magazine from the firearm and pressed it against the woman's leg.

When the two returned to the store, Shelton followed her through the aisles as she stocked shelves. The woman grew concerned enough about his behavior that she asked another employee to notify management.

The troubling conduct continued after her shift ended. The woman told police that she met Shelton again in his car so the two could continue talking, at which point he reached over, grabbed her by the throat, and squeezed — then apologized.

She reported both incidents to police on Aug. 27, four days after they occurred. Shelton was charged with two misdemeanors and posted a $1,000 bond following his arrest. He was released from Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, West Virginia. No court date had been scheduled as of Monday.
