Wisconsin Man Charged With Fatally Shooting Father 15 Times, Returning to Check He Was Dead

A Wisconsin man will stand trial in early 2027 after a judge ordered Gregory Juedes, 47, to face a first-degree intentional homicide charge in the death of his father, 74-year-old Daniel Juedes Sr.

According to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law & Crime, a neighbor called 911 at 7:35 a.m. on Nov. 24, 2024, to report a "disturbance with a weapon" at the Juedes home in Appleton, Wisconsin. The neighbor told dispatchers he had watched a white BMW leave the property, return briefly, and then leave a second time.

When officers arrived, they detected the smell of gunpowder and found Daniel Juedes dead on the bedroom floor. The elder Juedes had multiple wounds to his back and a gunshot wound to his left temple. Fourteen gold shell casings — each engraved with "9 mm LUGER CBC" — were recovered at the scene, and investigators noted multiple bullet holes in the bedroom wall. An autopsy later determined Daniel Juedes had been shot 15 times.

The neighbor, who had called 911, gave police a detailed account of what he had witnessed. He said a man stepped out of the white BMW carrying a gun, walked to the front door, kicked it in, and entered the home. The neighbor said he could hear yelling and described hearing 10 to 12 gunshots within approximately five seconds of the man going inside. The man then exited the house moments later. Based on the position of the firearm, the neighbor told police the man appeared to have "mag dumped" — emptied the entire magazine — into whoever he had shot.

The neighbor further told police that the man drove away in the white BMW, only to return a short time later and re-enter the home. He then left again "in a hurry."

Investigators initially focused on Daniel Juedes's other son, who was known to live at the address, but confirmed he was away on a hunting trip that day. Inquiries soon pointed to Gregory Juedes as the second son.

Within minutes of the BMW description being broadcast, an officer spotted the vehicle and observed that the driver was wearing clothing matching the suspect's description. The officer attempted a traffic stop; the driver activated his hazard lights but did not pull over. Instead, he continued onto a highway, triggering a high-speed chase. The officer eventually executed a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a halt. Gregory Juedes then fled on foot before several law enforcement officers physically subdued him. At one point during the struggle, he allegedly attempted to reach for a lieutenant's firearm.

Gregory Juedes was transported to a hospital for treatment. While in the ambulance, and without being prompted, he told police: "I think I got him with every round. And then one in the back of the head for good measure." He allegedly followed that statement by saying he had gone back to "check and kicked him in the a— [to] make sure he was down for the count."

In addition to first-degree intentional homicide, Juedes faces charges of fleeing or eluding an officer in a vehicle and resisting or obstructing an officer. His trial is scheduled to begin Feb. 7, 2027, with a pretrial hearing set for Jan. 22, 2027.
