A 23-year-old woman has died and a one-year-old infant is in critical condition after both were found injured outside a Bronx apartment building.

A 23-year-old woman has died and an infant remains in critical condition after both were discovered severely injured outside an apartment building in the Allerton section of the Bronx, according to abc7ny.com.
Officers arrived at a building on Olinville Avenue at approximately 3:38 a.m. on Tuesday to find the woman and child outside. The infant, believed to be around one year old, was transported to Jacobi Hospital by police vehicle and remains in a critical state. The woman was taken to the same hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
One witness told police that the woman and child had been thrown from a balcony in the building. Authorities have not confirmed that account and are currently reviewing surveillance footage while appealing for additional witnesses to come forward.
Investigators are working to establish the exact sequence of events. Police are seeking to speak with a person described as a white male in his 50s with grey hair.
The investigation is ongoing.
