Google News MT — Crime (en) reports that a woman was shot and killed by police in Nephi, Utah, in the early hours of Sunday morning following a domestic violence call.

A Nephi police officer and a Juab County deputy were dispatched at around 5 a.m. after reports of a weapon being involved in a domestic violence incident, according to a police news release. The woman, identified as the suspect, had fled the scene before officers arrived.

She was subsequently located at her home by a Nephi police officer who attempted to arrest her. The woman was armed with a gun at the time.

"During the encounter, shots were fired, and the female suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene," Nephi police said in the release.

Her name has not yet been released by authorities.

A man was arrested at the scene of the shooting, though police gave no reason for his arrest.

The Utah County Multiagency Officer-Involved Critical Incident Team is now leading the investigation into the incident.
