Burned body of woman found in Delta field, death treated as suspicious

Charred remains discovered in Delta field after early-morning fire
A woman's body was found in a field in the 6400 block of River Road in Delta on Wednesday morning, Global News Crime reports, with police confirming the death is being treated as suspicious.
Witnesses told Global News that around 5:45 a.m. a white Dodge pick-up truck was stalled in the middle of River Road near the field. Traffic backed up behind it and drivers began honking. The truck then slowly veered off the road and into the field.
Minutes later, employees at a nearby business spotted flames and one person ran out with a fire extinguisher. Upon approaching the scene, that individual discovered a body covered with wood scraps.
Delta Police are now working to establish what took place and to confirm the victim's identity. Investigators have not yet released further details about the circumstances of the death.
Police are asking anyone who was travelling along the 6400 block of River Road during the early morning hours, witnessed anything suspicious, or has dashcam footage from the area, to contact the Delta Police Department at 604-946-4444.
