Global News Crime reports that Toronto police have arrested four adults and four teenagers following a stolen vehicle investigation that uncovered multiple car-theft devices and a loaded firearm.
The operation began on Sunday when officers attempted to detain a wanted man. He and a youth fled on foot before both were caught after a brief chase. Police seized a loaded AR-15-style rifle and 27 rounds of ammunition from the pair.
A subsequent search of a downtown Toronto residence turned up seven master keys and two programming devices used to steal vehicles, leading to five additional arrests.
In total, eight people now face various firearms and theft charges: four adults aged 18 to 20, three teenage girls and one teenage boy, both aged 16 or 17.
