Google News CA — Crime (EN) reports that a hardware store in Ottawa's Little Italy neighbourhood has been struck by three separate shooting incidents this year, the most recent occurring overnight between Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.

Officers responding to Preston Hardware, located near the intersection of Preston Street and Gladstone Avenue, found "evidence of gunfire" outside the building on the morning of Aug. 29, according to a release issued Friday by the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).

"Investigators believe shots were fired at the business," the release stated. No injuries were reported.

The two earlier incidents took place on March 16 and July 9. Police had previously confirmed that "evidence of a shooting" was found near the same intersection during the overnight hours of July 8–9, also with no reported injuries. OPS offered no additional details on whether the store sustained physical damage in any of the three incidents.

The force's guns and gangs unit is leading the investigation. Police are asking anyone with information — including video footage of suspicious activity in the area — to come forward with tips.

CBC has contacted Preston Hardware for comment and has requested further details from OPS.
