Fourth suspect sentenced in Burnaby home invasion killing of teen Ryan Nagy

A Burnaby woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison for manslaughter in connection with the death of 19-year-old Ryan Nagy, who was killed during a home invasion in June 2023. Vancouver Sun Crime reports that 23-year-old Rhoda Diabikulu pleaded guilty on March 17 and was sentenced this week, completing the sentencing of all four people charged in the case.

Nagy died on the morning of June 29, 2023, at a residence in the 7600-block of 17th Avenue in Burnaby. First responders found him with life-threatening injuries; he did not survive. A second victim, a woman, was also hurt during the incident but recovered from non-life-threatening injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed Friday that both victims had been bound with duct tape during the attack. Nagy was additionally zip-tied and stabbed five times, court heard earlier this year.

Three co-accused were sentenced in the months prior to Diabikulu. On March 5, 2026, Ali Shamkhi, 20, received the longest sentence — more than 10 years in prison for manslaughter and unrelated firearms offences, after pleading guilty on October 31, 2025. A month later, Rais Usman, 20, was sentenced to six years for manslaughter following a guilty plea entered on October 17, 2025. On June 12, Ousmane Keita, 20, also received six years in prison for manslaughter after pleading guilty on March 18.

All four individuals had faced charges of manslaughter and forcible confinement in connection with Nagy's death.
