A violent gunfire incident erupted at a Latin music festival in Toronto, Canada, resulting in two fatalities and four individuals sustaining serious injuries. The event, known as Salsa on St. Clair, was abruptly cancelled following the Saturday night attack.

Local law enforcement reported that the street festival had drawn a crowd exceeding 13,000 attendees when the shots rang out. The final day of the event, scheduled for Sunday, was called off as investigators continued their work at the crime scene.

City councillor Josh Matlow announced via social media that police operations were ongoing at the location and confirmed the festival would not proceed. Toronto Police Chief Frank Barrendo stated that preliminary evidence suggested an exchange of gunfire between two individuals, with two firearms recovered from the area. He did not clarify whether the deceased were the perpetrators of the shooting.

When questioned about potential suspects, the chief did not rule out the involvement of more than the two individuals initially referenced. No arrests had been made at the time of reporting, with Barrendo describing the situation as highly complex and chaotic. Authorities appealed to festival-goers to share any photographs that might assist the investigation.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his horror over the incident through his social media account, offering prayers for the grieving families, those in critical condition, and everyone affected by the attack.
