Rifle with telescopic sight seized in coastal check in Empedrado
The Corrientes Rural Police detained a man on Tuesday, Ramón Oscar E., aged 61, in the locality of Empedrado, according to ellitoral.com.ar. The operation took place on Mendoza Street, in the vicinity of the Paraná River bank, within the urban zone of the municipality.
Agents intercepted a Renault Duster pick-up truck as part of verification tasks carried out near the coast. During the search, in addition to fishing equipment, they found a Ruger 10/22 semi-automatic rifle, .22 calibre, equipped with telescopic sight, magazine and cartridges.
The driver was unable to present the legitimate user credential or the corresponding documentation for the weapon. Given the impossibility of substantiating the legality of the items, summary protocols were activated.
The duty prosecutor, Dr Osvaldo Ojeda, ordered the preventive seizure of the rifle, the telescopic sight, the magazine and all ammunition. The pick-up truck was also retained.
The case was provisionally charged as suspected unlawful possession of a firearm, and the accused remains subject to the ongoing judicial process.
