According to mpfchubut.gov.ar, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Chubut and the provincial police detained two persons sought by justice in connection with the homicide of Mario Giannobile, 38 years old, whose body was found on the coast south of Playa Magagna, in the jurisdiction of Rawson.
The detainees were identified as Nelson Fabián Sampietro and Francisco García. Both were apprehended in a public place in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires by a police delegation from Chubut that was carrying out investigative tasks in the capital. They did not resist and were together at the time of the operation.
The case is being handled by prosecutor Leonardo Cheuqueman, from the Rawson Prosecutor's Office. Prior to these arrests, a third person linked to the case was already in preventive detention. The transfer of Sampietro and García to Chubut province was awaited for the holding of the detention control hearing.
The investigation also involved the chief prosecutor Eugenia Domínguez, from the Specialist Fiscal Unit for Cybercrime (UFECyED). Her contribution was decisive: based on the analysis of bank movements and the tracking of telephone devices, the location of both fugitives was established. Sampietro, in particular, was also sought in connection with other judicial cases.
