The Guarantee Court of Paraná extended the detention of Miguel Ángel Valdivieso Salas until 5 February 2027 for the murder of a lender linked to drug trafficking.

Valdivieso Salas to remain detained until February 2027 for "Jairo" the lender's murder
According to informedigital.com.ar, the Guarantee Court of Paraná extended the preventive detention of Miguel Ángel Valdivieso Salas until 5 February 2027. The accused will remain held at Penal Unit No. 1 whilst proceedings continue into the homicide of Carlos Daniel Tello Morales, a case that also links him to federal matters involving drug trafficking and document forgery.
The ruling was issued on 3 November 2026 at a hearing held at the Hearings Management Office (OGA) in Paraná, in case file No. 21504. Guarantee Court Judge No. 1 Marina Barbagelata approved the agreement reached between prosecutor Conrado Castagno Gini and defence counsel Augusto Laferriere, and ordered that the measure remain in force until Friday 5 February 2027 inclusive.
The prosecution argued that the procedural risks of flight and obstruction of the investigation persist. It noted additionally that analysis of data extracted from mobile phones seized at the time of his arrest in Buenos Aires remained outstanding, expert assessments that had only recently been submitted to the case. To this were added the January recess and carnival holidays in February. At the same hearing, it was confirmed that Federal Oral Court No. 1 of Buenos Aires maintains a preventive detention without fixed expiry date issued by the federal jurisdiction.
The accused requested to remain in Paraná
Valdivieso Salas, 53 years old and born in Lima, expressed his desire to continue being held at the Paraná penitentiary. He had previously requested a transfer to a facility closer to Buenos Aires to facilitate visits, but changed his position after indicating that his partner will travel to Venezuela and that he is currently in a shared cell block, in better conditions than during the period when he was isolated.
The murder on the corner of Ameghino and Mosconi
Valdivieso Salas is charged as the intellectual author of the homicide of Tello Morales, alias "Jairo", 30 years old, murdered on 30 March 2022 on the corner of Ameghino and Mosconi, in the San Martín neighbourhood of Paraná. According to the investigation, two hired killers on a motorcycle intercepted him and fired approximately ten times with a 9 mm pistol.
The case contends that the murder was linked to a money-lending circuit associated with drug trafficking and financed by organisations operating from Buenos Aires. Valdivieso Salas and Tello Morales administered this scheme in the capital of Entre Ríos, and the execution order is believed to have been issued after the victim retained funds belonging to the organisation. Also charged were presumed local collaborators who allegedly provided logistical and transport support to the perpetrators, among them taxi driver Juan Néstor Pereyra, Nicolás Lencina and Abril Coronel.
Fugitive for three and a half years, arrested with false documents
Valdivieso Salas remained a fugitive for more than three and a half years under false identities. A capture warrant had been issued in August 2022 by Guarantee Court No. 6 of Paraná. He was arrested on 18 April 2026 in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Caballito by the City Police when he attempted to identify himself with a forged Peruvian national ID card in another person's name bearing his photograph. In that operation, 24,500 US dollars and 50,000 pesos were seized from him.
Subsequent searches of his apartment on Espinosa street resulted in the seizure of 10.5 kilograms of cocaine divided into bricks, 7.9 million pesos, a precision scale and two unregistered firearms: a Glock .380 pistol subject to a seizure order and a Pietro Beretta .22. For these findings, Federal Criminal and Correctional Court No. 12 of Buenos Aires charged him with preventive detention for drug trafficking and document forgery, and imposed a 200 million peso embargo before remitting him to the jurisdiction of the Entre Ríos courts.
